Elementary School Library
We have re-envisioned this children’s library, within the walls of a bustling elementary school, to serve a new generation of learners. Though paper books are still very much at its center, the space itself
will transform to meet diverse modes of learning, teaching, and socializing. To create visual clarity through the original multi-room space, we carved new openings through the walls and reorganized the space based on activities. Along the perimeter, the book collection forms a continuous wall of books, visaully accesible throughout the library. The Rotunda, Reading Nest and Book Exchange are child-scale spaces carved out of the shelving for quiet reading or conversation. The modular furniture can be recombined to accommodate small group teaching, authors’ visits, private tutoring, and self-directed learning.
